The staff are ALL awesome, from Catarina the knowledgeable, helpful and friendly day desk clerk, to the housekeeper (sorry we didn't get her name) who helped us down the stairs with luggage. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Our room in the cupola (602) was tiny and eccentric, but clean and modern, with an awesome view of the central plaza. The only downsides were the cramped space -- to be able to live out of our two roll-aboard suitcases; and the requirement to walk up one flight of stairs, but we were only there two nights. Located very close to the beautifully tiled, historic Sao Bento railway station, there was also frequent bus service to Campanha station nearby the hotel too.

The property it is vey well located, within walking distance from to the many historical sites. Although a very old building, we had, what appeared to be a recently renovated room on the 5th floor with a balcony overlooking city hall with a nice view. The A/C worked great, the bathroom was clean with a great shower. The only weakness of the room was the bed, was very small, altho ugh I requested a queen side bed we got a full-size at best. All and all a very good value.

The Suite room on the 5th floor was quite. (room 507) The hotel is an ancient building but this represents the historical background (majestic waiting room). The location of the hotel was great, close to all major attractive points. You need of course to walk about 15min downwards to reach the river Douro banks, but this is a nice walk through the ancient small streets. The staff at reception was very helpful and friendly.

The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The location can't be beat, it is very centrally located. The hotel is older with smaller rooms, but clean and comfortable and charming. We had a problem with water leaking in our bathroom on our last night, the staff immediately got us in a different room for the night and were very helpful in ensuring we were compensated for our inconvenience.

Robert

The building is historic and very cool. The location is perfect and an easy walk to all the places you want to go and see. Plenty of food nearby. Walking to the train station is easy. The Douro river is a little further of a walk but incredible things to see during the entire walk so it's a great walk.
